Biography and career:
He was born in 1961 in Kragujevac, where he graduated from Grammar school and in 1986 from the University in Kragujevac Faculty of Law. He passed bar exam in 1988.
Upon graduation, he worked in the company dealing with goods transport ,, Špedicija’’ as a law clerk for general and legal affairs, and afterwards, in 1987, continued his engagement in ,,Zastava’’ company as senior associate for second-instance cases processing and compliance.
He started working as the Secretary of the Panel in Basic Labour Court in Kragujevac in 1987, where he continued worked after passing the bar exam until the end of 1991. As of January 1, 1992 he worked as judicial associate in the Municipal Court in Kragujevac.
In 1994, he was appointed Judge of the Municipal Court in Kragujevac and assigned to the Criminal Department.
In 1999 he was appointed Judge of the District Court in Kragujevac, where he acted as Judge in the Criminal Department. From 2001 to 2009 he served as the President of District Court in Kragujevac. On January 1, 2010 he was appointed Judge of the Appellate Court in Kragujevac where he served as the President of the second-instance Criminal Panel, and at the same time as Deputy Acting President of the Court.
He initially served as a member of the High Judicial Council, while from 2012 to 2017 simultaneously acted as a member and the Deputy President of the High Judicial Council, as well as member and Head of the Committee for the Implementation of the National Judicial Reform Strategy for the period 2013-2018.
Upon completion of a term of office as a member of the High Judicial Council, he continued serving as Judge of the Criminal Department in the Appellate Court in Kragujevac and the Deputy President of the Appellate Court in criminal matters.
He was engaged in practical education (workshops) in the field of criminal procedure at the University of Kragujevac Faculty of Law for years. He is member of the Serbian Association for Criminal Law and Practice and Deputy President of the Association. He completed training for intermediaries and mediators.

In 2017 he was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court.
Judge Miroljub Tomić has been appointed Acting President of the Supreme Court by the High Judicial Council, starting on April 17, 2026.
